MISSOURI STAND WORKS ON COLORADO DEER – Chris Taylor took this 4 x 4 mule deer from his transplanted deer stand. He has also seen a bear, a mountain lion and large coyotes that pursued a buck in the snow with all of them falling down several times. He had a hunting buddy with him while they watched the coyotes chase the deer. Chris is currently in the process of moving the stand to cover an area that is used by more animals. He said his Missouri deer stand is the talk of that part of Colorado.

Missouri deer stand goes to Colorado – About 20 years ago, my dad, Clifford Long, and I decided to build  a deer stand that would withstand the elements and not be a snack for woodpeckers and other varmints. We installed shooting rests for rifle and shotgun, doors that would permit the hunter to use a box and arrow for gamed that got close and sliding windows that could be adjusted to block the sunshine, winds and blowing snow. With the help of Carl and his son, Nathan, Taylor, we fastened the stand with lag bolts on a rack of oak 2x4s on top of four hedge corner posts. Four angle irons on hinges mounted above the shooting windows could be fastened up  out of the way or pulled down with bungee cords to rest against the sliding windows to keep them rattling in the wind. The interior of the stand is big enough to comfortably seat two hunters.

A few months ago. Carl wanted to buy the stand so Chris to take it to land they own in Colorado, so I sold it to him.
