This wasn’t a spur of the moment decision. It started about three years ago when Cory Gayman started working on his brother-in-law, Nate Chilton. Nate, the only one of the four that isn’t from El Dorado Springs, was living locally  and had been for several years working as an insurance adjuster.

Now Nate and the others are excited about having a business in downtown El Dorado Springs.

The building was originally built by Carl McCallister for his gun shop. It was a great addition to North Main, taking up the space where two fires had destroyed the buildings in that block from Spring to the alley.

Rusty Norval bought the building and re-purposed it into an appliance and furniture store with a meeting venue on the second floor. He named it after himself and the Schwalm family who were long time residents of El Dorado Springs and had owned an appliance store on North Main for many years.

Now the Home Store is continuing the tradition of service to the local community with an added emphasis on selling the tried and true things customers want while always looking to diversify to meet the needs of this area.

In the appliance category they have GE, Whirlpool, Crosley and HotPoint and their newest addition, a Canadian brand called Forno.

Furniture-wise they’ll continue to carry Ashley, Catnapper and Jackson.

Most of what they sell, you can take home the same day and most other things they can get in two weeks.

The Chiltons and the Gaymans are planning a grand opening on Saturday, July 17.

They want the community to know that they are in the store and working and continuing to add to their service. They want to be known as the place to come for service.

And, if you were wondering, Rusty is welcome to stay at the store as long as he likes providing repair service

The four owners know that El Dorado Springs has a lot to offer and they are enjoying working in the community they love.
