The Schell City/Harwood UMW met Wednesday, evening, Jan. 22, for their regular monthly meeting at Madalyn’s Kitchen. Those present were Pastor Connie Locke, Jewell and Helen Ellerman, Frances Lewis, Ruth Ijams, Madalyn Crocker and Sharon Sterling. Helen Ellerman, president, conducted the business meeting. She gave the devotion taken from Matthew 9:14-17. Pastor Locke read from the prayer calendar and had prayer. The purpose of UMW was repeated in union. The card chairman reported sending several cards. Pastor Locke led the lesson entitled “Calling to Prepare for Mission.” She read Luke 2:36-38. Refreshments were served which consisted of summer sausage, cheese, crackers, doughnuts, chips, cherry turnovers, iced tea and coffee. The next regular meeting will be Feb. 19 at Madalyn’s Kitchen at 6 p.m. with everyone bringing refreshments. Jeanie O’Brien will have the lesson.

Connie Locke visited her parents, Ben and Gloria Locke, in Nevada Thursday, Jan. 23.

Bob and Cheryl Ellerman of Edwards spent from Friday until Monday in the home of Jewell and Helen Ellerman. Mike Ellerman and Joshua of Carl Junction spent Saturday in the home of the Ellermans.

Those having dinner at Madalyn’s Kitchen after church Sunday, Jan. 26. were Pastor “Connie Locke, Jewell and Helen Ellerman, Bob and Cheryl Ellerman, Jeanie O’Brien, Ruth Ijams, Frances Lewis, Gary and Gayle Dunn, Joe Dunn, Eternity Dunn, Brent Baughn and Matthew Morrill.

Church service was held at the Harwood Baptist Church Sunday, Jan. 26. Brother Jon Caudlle’s sermon “The God We Serve is an Awesome God” was taken from Act 1:1-9.

Church service was held at the Schell City United Methodist Church Sunday, Jan. 26. Pastor Connie Locke’s sermon “Where do You See The Kingdom?” taken from Matthew 4:12-23. Sunday School was held before church. Jeanie O’Brien led the lesson “Jesus Teaches Compassion For The Poor” taken from Luke 16:19-31.
