Abel David Jones (Dave), 53, El Dorado Springs passed away at Mercy Hospital of Springfield on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. Dave was born in Eminence Aug. 26, 1960, to John William Jones and Elsa Carole (Mead) Jones, one of 13 children. Dave’s family moved to Wray, CO, when he was a young child, and he grew up there on the ranch in Wray. He loved horses and the farm life there with his family. The family moved to their farm in El Dorado Springs when Dave was 18 years old. Dave remained in the El Dorado Springs area for the rest of his life.
Dave spent most of his adult life as a carpenter and general contractor. He loved to play golf, tennis, snooker, pool, cards and was extremely competitive at any game.
In 1989 he married Kim (Watson) Jones. To this union four children were born, Amanda Simpson and Jeremy, Jessica, and Rachel Jones. Dave loved his children and was very proud of every one of them. He loved to talk to anyone who would listen about what they were up to.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Jones and Elsa C. Jones, and infant brother, Mark.
He is survived by his four children, Amanda Simpson (23) and husband, Josh, of Kansas City, KS, Jeremy (21) of Joplin, Jessica (19) of Joplin, and Rachel (15) of El Dorado Springs, 11 siblings; John W. Jones Jr, Daniel Jones, James Jones, Sharon Flesher and Christa Smith, all of El Dorado Springs, Deborah Williams, Buffalo, Candy Schweitzer, Trenton, Jonathon Jones and Rebecca Jones Springfield, Elijah Jones, Phoenix, AZ, and Virginia Labounty, Tiberias, Israel.
Family suggests contributions to be made to Abel David Jones Children Education fund in care of Sheldon Funeral Home.
Service was Sunday, Jan. 26 at Church of God (Holiness) El Dorado Springs under the direction of Pastor Joe Trussell.
Music was “When I Get Where I’m Going” and “Landslide.”
Euology by Nathan Nissley.
Final disposition cremation.
Interment was at Mockingbird Hill Cemetery El Dorado Springs.
