In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 79 requests for assistance this past week, Oct. 25-31. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 11, Animal Control 14, Assist Other Agencies 6, All Escorts 1, Nuisance 6, All Other Requests for Assistance 50, Summons 9.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On October 25, 2021, officers responded to 401 West Fields, Barrington, concerning a burglary. The investigation revealed the theft of a Plasma Arc cutting system, snacks and change from the vending machine. Officers located and returned the plasma cutting systems. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 27, 202, officers arrested Charles K Swink, 45, of Nevada, Missouri, for a Vernon County Warrant, charging him with Failure to Appear for the original charge of receiving stolen property with a $500.00 cash bond. He was released on bond pending a court appearance.

On October 27, 2021, officers responded to 105 West US 54 Highway, Smokers Outlet, concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of an undisclosed amount of US Currency. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 27, 2021, officers responded to 604 South Jackson concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a propane tank. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 28, 2021, officers arrested Christopher A. Gray, 30, of El Dorado Springs, for El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrants charging him with Resisting Arrest, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a $744.50 bond. He was released on bond pending a court appearance

On October 28, 2021, officers arrested Brenton L. Kafer, 28, of El Dorado Springs, for Vernon County Warrants, charging him with Failure to Obey Judge’s Order, on the original charges of Burglary and Stealing, each with $25,000.00 bond. Kafer was transferred to the Vernon County Jail pending a bond and court appearance.

On October 29, 2021, officers responded to 700 East US 54 Highway, Family Dollar, concerning a shoplifting. The investigation revealed the theft of batteries, LED light, Halloween Mask, and temporary tattoos. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Catherine M. McGraw, 28, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of stealing. She was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On October 31, 2021, officers responded to 401 North Main concerning a peace disturbance. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Leah S. Taylor, 39, of El Dorado Springs, a Nevada Municipal Warrant with a$134.00 bond. She was held pending bond or transfer to Vernon County Jail.
