Two Southwest Missouri men are scheduled for pre-trial conferences in New Jersey in a couple of weeks on four-year-old kidnapping charges.
Doug Stangeland, Nevada, and Lonnie Swarnes, Rich Hill, are charged with kidnapping a man at his Newton, NJ, business in January 2010. The victim escaped and his abductors were arrested the next day at a Lake Ozark convenience store.
A third alleged kidnapper – Swarnes’ nephew, Andrew Wadel – pleaded guilty and was sentenced to an 18-year term in July 2011.
The pre-trial conferences for Stangeland and Swarnes are scheduled April 14.
