William “Bill” Alva Starkey, 86, Blue Springs, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence following a lengthy illness. Bill was born Sept. 8, 1935, in Schell City to Chester A. and Martha Ann (Alexander) Starkey. He was united in marriage to Glennise E. Germann on March 12, 1955 in Harwood and she survives of the home.

Bill was raised in Schell City and graduated from Schell City High School in 1953. He attended business college a year before joining the FBI in 1954, where he worked until his retirement in 1990. At that time, he went to work for a neighbor in the carpet cleaning business for a number of years. He and Glennise came back to Glennis’ family farm near Harwood where they resided for 15 years before returning to Blue Springs in 2014. Bill attended the Blue Springs Christian Church where he served as a deacon.

In addition to his wife Glennise, he is survived by two sons, Ron Starkey – Blue Springs, and Kevin Starkey (Kelly) -, Shawnee, KS; three grandchildren, Jason Starkey (Jenny) – Springdale, AR, Ryan Starkey – Shawnee, KS, and Sam Starkey – Shawnee, KS; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Starkey (Joyce), El Dorado Springs, and Gene Starkey (Janet), El Dorado Springs; daughter-in-law, Patricia Starkey – Lincoln, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Kenneth Starkey.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Schell City Christian Church. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City.
