Drivers should expect one lane traffic, flaggers and pilot cars where contractor crews are sealing various routes in St. Clair, Henry and Hickory counties with a mixture of rock and oil beginning the week of April 18, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews will remove the current driving surface on these routes, replacing it with a new surface with improved texture.
Here is the anticipated schedule and the routes impacted:
April 19-20 – St. Clair County Route HH between Northeast 971 and Route C east of Lowry City
April 20-28 – St. Clair County Route V between Missouri Route 13 and U.S. Route 54 south of Osceola
April 28-May 2 – St. Clair County Route MM between Southeast 1151 and U.S. Route 54 west of Weaubleau
May 3-5 – Hickory County Route RB between Missouri Route 83 and Lightfoot Park east of Flemington
May 10-16 – Hickory County Route VV between Route P east of Cross Timbers and Missouri Route 7 in Benton County
May 18-16 – Henry County Route P between Missouri Route 18 and Southwest 350 north of Montrose
Traffic Impacts:
Traffic reduced to one lane where contractor crews are working
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed when traveling over recently-sealed sections of highways
No signed detours
Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone
Drivers are urged to look for alternate routes
Drivers will encounter flaggers and pilot cars directing them through the work zones. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zones or before entering the work zones from a side road.
Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.
A seal coat is not an alternative to an asphalt overlay but is being used here as an economical way to maintain and preserve the roadway. The treatments keep a road from deteriorating and will extend its life.
