ST CLAIR COUNTY SHERIFF'S REPORT

May 20 – Joanne Witherspoon, 43, Kansas City, arrested in St. Clair County on a misdemeanor warrant out of Cass County for passing bad checks. Bond set at $5,000.

Deputy took report of trespasser on property owned by Barbara Mahan, NE 1399 Private Rd. Search of area conducted with no findings.

Deputy took report of catfish being taken from a private lake on SW K Hwy, Osceola. Frank Rodgers reported someone has been going through his field and taking fish. He found a bag with chicken livers in it near the lake. Rodgers noted he has noticed a recent decrease in the catfish population when feeding. He estimated 15 fish have been taken. Investigation continuing.

May 24 – Deputy took stealing report at campsite in Talley Bend Campground. Shane Booth, Alba, stated he and his family arrived at the campground and set up their campsite for the weekend. Family went to lake to fish and when they returned they noticed their cooler containing food for weekend was missing. Deputy patrolled campground looking cooler with negative findings.

May 25 – Deputy took report of stealing on Coon Creek Street, Collins. Bruce Lindquist reported gas, a Craftman sawzall and a Husqvarna chainsaw stolen from his residence. Investigation ongoing.

Deputy took stealing report on 601 Rd, Collins. Ernest Mcafee reported a solar fence charger, electric fence wire, aluminum tree stand, and no trespassing sign stolen from the property. Total value of the items estimated at $1,110. Investigation ongoing.

May 28 – Robert Foster, 32, Osceola arrested on a St. Clair County felony warrant charging him with a class C felony of theft/stealing. Court date of June 20 given and bond set at $10,000 cash or surety. Charge stems from an incident on April 15 when deputy dispatched to property on SE V Hwy in reference to a stealing.

Jack Foster reported individual in a Dodge Dakota truck pulling a small trailer was seen stealing scrap from his property. Evidence located at scene and the investigation discovered the suspect vehicle was located at Meredith Recycling, Montrose. Contact made with the Henry County Sheriff’s office and deputy dispatched to location to stop and hold vehicle. Vehicle stopped and contact made with two male subjects in vehicle. Items were recovered, identified and released to Jack Foster. Arrest warrants for Robert Foster and Zachary Harper, 25, Kansas City, issued on May 16. Arrest warrant for Harper still active and has not been served.

May 29- Deputy took report from Billy Inman regarding stolen checks. Inman stated he received a letter from Casey’s General Store, Weaubleau, regarding 10 bad checks that were written. Checks totaled over $1,000 dollars. Inman stated the account has been closed since the end of 2013. The investigation ongoing.

Michael Stuart, 29, Osceola, arrested on St. Clair County felony warrant for failure to appear in court on a class C felony charge of burglary-second degree. Court date of June 20 given and bond set at $10,000 cash or surety. Charge stems from incident on Aug. 20, 2013, when Robert Lily reported someone trying to enter his house in Roscoe through a screen. He identified the man as a neighbor. Investigation led to Stuart’s arrest.

May 30 – Deputy took report from Penny Timmerman regarding items stolen from her property on SE 436 Rd. Timmerman reported she has had numerous items stolen from her property and from inside of a house. Items stolen include a Honda generator, Craftsman stand-up air compressor, large air tank, roll of chain link fence with posts, fish tank, miscellaneous jewelry, two antique jewelry boxes and crystal ware. Value of items estimated at $4,150. Request for prosecution signed and investigation ongoing.

May 31 – April Sturgeon, 20, Roscoe, arrested in Osceola for possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony. Sturgeon taken into custody by a deputy during a traffic stop in Osceola. Formal charges in the case are pending.

A search of the vehicle discovered a plastic bag and straw with white powdery residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Sturgeon admitted to having a controlled substance on her person prior to being booked into the St. Clair County Jail. Once at the jail, a plastic bag containing a crystal substance and a straw was retrieved from Sturgeon. Items collected as evidence to be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for analysis. Court date of June 20 given and bond set at $10,000 cash or surety.
