Leila M. Rogers, 88, Independence, formerly of El Dorado Springs, went home to meet her Savior on June 1, 2014. She died peacefully in her home with family near. She was born in El Dorado Springs, but during the years of World War II, she moved to Independence where she resided until her death.
She attended Pleasant Grove Bible Church and First Baptist Church of Raytown.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Fred and Velma Blystone; brother. Wallace Blystone, and sister, Faye Long. Surviving sisters include Jean Milburn of Grain Valley, Beverly Mogan of El Dorado Springs, Adele Adams of Springfield, Velda Dobbs of El Dorado Springs; and Lonnie Joe Blystone of Springfield.
Leila was a loving mother of four children: three sons – F. Phillip Rogers and wife, Pam; Dennis G. Rogers and wife, Susan; and Kevin L. Rogers and wife, Tracy; and one daughter, Pamela J. Sandy. She was a doting grandmother to 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Leila was employed for many years at a government facility, Lake City Arsenal, as well as being a part owner of the Rogers Music Studio located in Independence.
A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, in the Church of God (Holiness), 1607 S. Park St., El Dorado Springs. Local arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Final disposition was cremation.
