Erma Mae Beason

Erma Mae Beason, age 91, 3 months and 5 days passed away June 22, 2014, in Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs. She was the second child of eight children born to Earl and Maude Berning. She was born March 17, 1923, in Miller.

Erma was a homemaker and loved the farm and her garden. She worked at the Walnut Plant in Stockton for a few years. She made many quilts, did machine quilting for many years for people and hand quilted for both herself and friends.

Erma married Frank Beason March 29, 1947, in Fort Scott, KS. To this union, two children were born, Leonard Calvin Beason and Bonnie Mae Beason.

Erma was saved in a revival at Potter School House in 1950. She joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and on March 28, 1954, was baptized in Cedar Creek with others.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Maude Berning; her husband of 49 years, Frank Beason; three brothers – George Berning, Chester Berning and Dale Berning; and three sisters – Ruby Berning Beason, Irene Berning Mizner and Nadene Berning Pendergraph.

Erma is survived by her son, Calvin Beason, and wife, Wilma – Lamar; their sons – Terry Beason and wife, Nita – Greenfield, Steven Beason and wife, Cindy – Lee’s Summit, and Donald Beason and wife, Michelle – Carl Junction; her daughter, Bonnie Beason Henry, and husband, Kent – El Dorado Springs; their children, Randall Henry and wife, Andrea – Andover, KS, and Julie Henry Rieder and husband, Aaron – El Dorado Springs; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Berning Bailey, and brother-in-law, Richard Bailey; three sisters-in-law – Delpha Berning, Margaret Berning and DeEtta Berning; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Donations may be made to Stockton Cemetery or Hopewell Baptist Church.

Services began at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, in Brumback Funeral Home. No visitation is planned. Burial in Stockton Cemetery.
