I really enjoyed the pictures and article about the Osage Village State Historic Site in the June 19 edition.
The historic site is one of the “hidden treasures” of the Tri County area, in my opinion.
A lot of people are not aware of the site nor the history associated with it. It is worth the short drive to the area north of Walker to experience the thrill of standing on the ground where a huge nation of Osage once lived and thrived. We always go there when we are back in Southwest Missouri for a visit.
It would be great if the funds existed to make the site into a full-fledged state history park, complete with on-site visitors center and indoor museum. But that is not possible in these times.
Thanks again to the Sun for promoting a one-of-a-kind place in the Nevada-El Dorado Springs vicinity.
