Like an expectant father, the new El Dorado Springs head football coach, Derek Scroggins, is waiting for Aug. 4 to see what he got. That’s the first day of practice permitted under Missouri State High School Athletic Association rules. And that’s when Coach Scroggins and his coaching staff will find out which players actually come out to play football.

Coach Scroggins told the Sun on Tuesday, “We won’t really know until then (Aug. 4).”

The annual Red/Black scrimmage is set for Saturday, Aug. 9.

The Cedar Bowl between the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs and Stockton Tigers is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 22, in Stockton.

The coach said, “We are real excited. We look for a good season.”
