Fall rummage, bake sale to be November

The Schell City/Harwood United Methodist Women met at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Madalyn’s Kitchen. Those present were Pastor Connie Locke, Jewell and Helen Ellerman, Madalyn Crocker and Sharon Sterling. President Helen Ellerman conducted the business meeting. She gave the devotion taken from Matthew 12:12-21. Pastor Locke read from the prayer calendar and had prayer. The card chairman reported sending several cards. The purpose of UMW was reported in union. In new business they had decided not to have their fall rummage and bake sale until November because two members will have surgery Aug. 22. Jeanie O’Brien was to have the lesson but was unable to attend so Pastor Locke led the lesson “Calling to Practice Hospitality in Welcoming all Women” taken from Mark 9:18-22 with everyone taking part in the lesson. President Ellerman had fun with the response. Everyone brought refreshments which was pizza, relish tray, potato chips, banana bread, ham, iced tea and coffee. The Aug. 20 meeting will be at 4 p.m. at Madalyn’s Kitchen.

Church service was held at the Schell City United Methodist Church Sunday, July 27. Pastor Connie Locke’s sermon, “Who Will Separate Us?” was taken from Matthew 13:31-33 and 44-52 and Romans 8:26-39. Sunday School was held before church. Jeanie O’Brien led the lesson, “Seek The Good of Others” was taken from I Corinthians 14:13-26.

Church service was held at the Harwood Baptist Church Sunday, July 27, with Brother Jon Caudle.

Connie Locke visited her father, Ben Locke, at Nevada on Monday and again on Thursday.
