El Dorado Springs R-II Schools has applied for and been approved to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act. This provision will allow the district to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students free of charge.
The program does not cover second trays, second milks, a la carte items or snack milk—these items will need to be paid for in the traditional manner.
Parents will not have to fill out any forms to participate in the program – all enrolled students are automatically eligible. The duration of this program is three years at which time the district will have to reapply providing the eligibility criteria is still met.
In order to make this program cost effective for the district, participation in the program by the students is very important. Without a high degree of participation in both breakfast and lunch, it may not be possible to support the program without significant losses to the District. Because of this, the District encourages all students to take advantage of the meal offerings at both breakfast and lunch.
Questions regarding this program should be directed to Superintendent Mark Koca at 876-3112, Ext. 5.
