We love how our El Dorado Springs R2 school coaching staff continues to produce extraordinary athletes with the Lady Bulldogs coming in second in basketball only missing their third State Championship by two points, to great volleyball and track teams.
As many of you know, our son, Daelen Ackley, received a full scholarship to Notre Dame University. What you may not know is that his Track and Cross-Country coach, Chris Neal, said Daelen was the most talented runner he has coached in the past 40 years.
This year alone, Daelen has broken the barrier of the 4-minute mile, running a 3:58 and joining the ranks of only 1,664 college students to have ever accomplished this feat. Notre Dame was competing against colleges like Clemson, Wake Forest, Duke and Virginia Tech in which Daelen was able to pull the team from a fifth place to a second place finish.
So, this Champion never ceases to amaze us with his increasing stats and his running achievements. Many have been telling us for years they expect to see him going to the Olympics and we believe he is getting closer.
Daelen is only .5 seconds away from holding the Freshman record in Notre Dame far the 1,500 Meter run, which is held by Yared Nuguse who is an Olympic and American record holder in the mile and 3K.
