The Cedar County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, CEO Terry Nichols, and the entire staff welcome Dr. Patricia Myers to the CCMH team.

“We are extremely pleased to be adding another healthcare professional to the CCMH medical staff,” stated Nichols in a recent interview. “Dr. Patricia Myers, M.D., brings an abundance of experience and training not only in the Family Practice arena, but also the field of Nephrology – a specialty much needed that is difficult to come by, especially in a rural area.”

According to Dr. Myers, she cannot remember when she was not involved in the healthcare field in some manner or other. She was an Associate Degree RN at the age of nineteen, continued on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and then a Master’s Degree in that field, moved on to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and then a Master’s Degree in that field. After her children were grown, her passion fueled her on and she attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. Following the attainment of a doctorate degree in medicine, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine, and completed fellowships in both Nephrology and Hypertension at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York, New York. Along the way she received several recognition awards including The Gordon B. Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine from Wayne State University and the Weill Cornell Medical Center Alumni Council Distinguished House Staff Award in Nephrology. She also served as Chief Nephrology Fellow during the last year of her Nephrology fellowship. Her vast training includes Medicine and Intensive Care at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Nephrology, and medicine coverage at the Hospital for Specialty Surgery which specializes in Orthopedics and Rheumatology. She also trained at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute in New York where she managed patients with Onco-nephrology (cancer and renal disease) issues. During her training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute, she conducted her research project in the study of renal pathology in patients with cancer and renal disease.

When asked about her personal philosophy of patient care, Dr. Myers shared “Care needs to be thoughtful, accurate, evidence-based, and in accordance with accepted standards of medical practice. But above all, I am compassionate and understanding of the patient’s perspective and the challenges they face. I am a patient-centered physician in that I thoroughly enjoy my relationships with my patients, I cherish each one as the unique individual they are, and I feel honored to be trusted as the physician they have chosen to put in charge of their personal healthcare needs.”

Most recently, Dr. Myers served as an Attending Physician and Hospitalist at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO, where she evaluated, admitted, and managed the care of patients admitted to the medical center. She simultaneously served as Medical Director of Intrepid USA Hospice Services in Joplin where she was responsible for the coordination of all aspects of patient care, family support services, and management of end-of-life care.

“Dr. Myers will be available to patients at our Medical Mall Clinic here in El Do two days each week and at the Cedar County Family Clinic in Stockton two days each week when it opens in May,” said Nichols. “These are exciting times for CCMH and the community,” he continued. “With Dr. Myers, we have a Family/Internal Medicine doctor who also sees Nephrology patients. We are bringing on more specialty care physicians that will be available on our hospital campus – right here, close to home, so folks who live in Cedar County and the surrounding area won’t have to drive miles and miles for the medical care they want and need . . . and we are re-opening in Stockton, the Cedar County Family Clinic. As always, support from the citizens in our communities is paramount to our success.”

Dr. Myers looks forward to seeing patients beginning May 1, 2023. Contact our Medical Mall Clinic in El Dorado Springs at (417) 876-3333, option 1, or the Cedar County Family Clinic in Stockton at (417) 276-5500 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Myers or another CCMH provider.
