In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 102 requests for assistance this past week, May 8-14. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 4, Animal Control 11, Assist Other Agencies 14, All Escorts 1, Nuisance 11, All Other Requests for Assistance 61, Summons 4.

Anyone interested in adopting  animals from the City Pound should contact Officer Richards, animal control officer at 876-2313.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On May 8, 2023, officers responded to 317 West Spring concerning a larceny. This investigation revealed the theft of $25.00. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On May 8, 2023, officers arrested Thomas B. Kirk, 24, of El Dorado Springs for a Pettis County Warrant, charging him with Driving While Suspended with a $250 cash bond.  He was released on bond pending a court appearance.

On May 8, 2023, officers responded to 106 East Poplar Street concerning a Domestic Disturbance. A suspect has been identified, report taken and the investigation continues.

On May 10, 2023, officers responded to 1401 South Park Street concerning an intoxicated driver. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Kevinkumar (Kevin) P. Patel, 31, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Driving While Intoxicated, No operator’s License and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was released on summonses pending a court appearance.

On May 10, 2023, officers responded to 800 North Main, concerning an assault. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Jody R. Haines, 38, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of assault. He was released on summons spending a court appearance.

On May 11, 2023, officers responded to 111 West Joe Davis Street, concerning a trespassing. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Douglas E. Berten, 53, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of trespassing. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On May 11, 2023, officers arrested Tabitha L Norval, 31,  and Robert J. Chastain, 29, of El Dorado Springs,  for the probable cause of Child Molestation 2nd Degree. Officers completed probable cause statements for these charges. Officer received a Cedar County Warrant charging Norval with Child Molestation 1st Degree with no bond and a Cedar County Warrant charging Chastain with Statutory Sodomy with no bond. They were transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending a court appearance. This is the result of an investigation beginning on May 2, 2023, when officers of the El Dorado Springs Police Department and Department of Family Services members began an investigation concerning allegation of child sex abuse. Additionally, an investigator with the State Technical Assistance Team aided in this investigation.   

On May 12, 2023, officers responded to the station to assist the Missouri State High Patrol concerning a subject with an El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrant. The incident resulted in the arrest of Mystical D Diaz, 21, of El Dorado Springs, for a Municipal Court Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear with a $231.50 bond. She was released on bond pending a court appearance.

On May 13, 2023, officers responded to 305 West Broadway concerning a Domestic Assault. A suspect has been identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.

On May 13, 2023, officers responded to 1302 South Missouri 32 Highway, Brower Real Estate, concerning property damage.  The investigation revealed the damage to a door. A report taken and the investigation continues.
