The Sac-Osage Retired School Employees Association is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the Nellie Nicholas Memorial Teaching Scholarship.  Recipients are Brooke Ehlers—Missouri Southern State University, a second year recipient; Trey Graves—Graceland University, a second year recipient; Connor Goatley—Southwest Baptist University, a first year recipient; Tevi Gurley—Drury University, a second year recipient; Hunter Jacobs—Pittsburg State University, a second year recipient; Brice Knolls—Southwest Baptist University, a third year recipient; and Keylie Steward—Pittsburg State University, a first year recipient.

Mrs. Nicholas, a former teacher and counselor, left a portion of her estate to be given to students pursuing a career in education who are graduates of El Dorado Springs Pubic or Christian School.  Since 2014, over $210,000 has been given to local students to pursue a degree in teacher education.
