Janet Fay (Mays) Marshall, 79, El Dorado Springs, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family on Dec. 11, 2023. She was born in Cedar County on Oct. 16, 1944, to Elmer and Jean Mays. Janet graduated from El Dorado Springs RII Schools, working various jobs around the community before pursuing and achieving one of her greatest accomplishments, becoming a Registered Nurse. She did this while balancing working full time and being a loving wife and mother. She eventually retired from the Missouri State Hospital (Nevada) after over 30 years of dedicated service where she gained many lifelong friends who greatly respected her leadership and friendship.

Janet was a lover of time with family, especially traveling and was proud to have visited every state of the union in her lifetime. Some of her most cherished moments were enjoying a meal with her family, as she was always happy to accept an invitation to her favorite restaurant, Chicken Mary’s. She was known to sneak some of her beloved sweets while out and about, especially candy store fudge and peanut clusters that she loved to share with her grandkids.

Janet was a devoted follower of Christ, being faithful to attend Union Hall Southern Baptist Church. She even taught Sunday school classes and served in the nursery until her health would no longer allow her to attend. Even when unable to leave her home due to depleting health she still kept up with prayer requests and church activities while also viewing multiple virtual services at home every Sunday morning. Janet was proud to live on the farm all her life, being very active with the day to day duties of cattle farming and being an avid lover of horses. She cherished decorating her home with her beloved antiques, notably her many doilies and washstands.

Janet married the love of her life, Jimmie Charles ‘J.C.’ Marshall, on Oct. 3, 1969. Together they raised two children, Tony LaVern and Tandi Jai.
