TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Preferred Family Healthcare building, 700 E. Hospital Rd, El Dorado Springs on Thursday, Jan. 11, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.

Warren, our leader, called the meeting to order.

Carol led us in singing “To TOPS Club We Will Go”

We said our TOPS & KOPS Pledges

Warren led us in roll call; we were so happy to see 23 members weigh in today.  Hopefully everyone is recovering from the bug that has been going around.  The chapter had a gain of 6.4 and a loss of 13.8 giving us a net loss of 7.4. The week’s best loser was Margie with a 2.8 loss. Congratulations Margie. Other good losses were:

Rachael, Juanita, and Jan each lost 1.2, Laura lost 1.4, Pam lost 1.8 and Pat lost 2.6.  Congratulations on a great week.

Linda Hall caught up on some awards from last week. Juanita received her 1,000 miles walked certificate, most weight lost in the 4th quarter, and first place in walking miles.

Carol and Jean received their Kops in Black certificates. Judy B received an award for most under goal in the 4th quarter.

Samantha had the program today. She talked about some research she has been doing on gut health and its effects on weight loss.

Gut health is essential to the immune system.  Some of the ways she found to help with this is to focus your diet on plant-based foods.  She also stressed keeping a food chart is most helpful.  Thank you, Samantha, for a great program.

Old business:

Contest: Laura gave more information on the new contest. It will start today and go until the end of February. Each member will receive a sheet of suggested exercises/activities to do. Each one you do for 30 minutes will earn one point. When you have done 10 different exercises/activities you will receive a ticket for a drawing held at the end of the contest. Cost to enter would be $1.50 per person. There is a wide variety of things you can do, ranging from walking, swimming, working in the yard, pickleball, yoga, Zumba, going to the gym etc. Motion was made by Stephany to do this contest, it was seconded by Pam, motion carried. Please see Laura to enter the contest and get your list of activities.

The secretary’s report was read and approved with a correction.

Treasures report was read by Sue:

The Treasury report was approved as read.

Sue reminded us December Dues are past due if you think you may have forgot to pay your December dues, please check with Sue.

New business:

Warren read an email from our area Advocate, Kyleen Wilson. Instead of making a New Year Resolution she is setting an attainable goal. One is losing just ten pounds in six months, that is just 1.6 per month. That is a double goal. Move more, join a gym, pick an activity you will do. (This goes along with our contest). Cook more balanced meals. We are with you Kyleen, we can do it. Although I am not personally so sure about the Chocolate.

She is seeking a chapter to host August Fun Days. There will be more to come on this.

Marble game:  there is $20.50 in the pot, Samantha won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.

We wish Rachael and her husband a happy 6th anniversary.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto

IF IT IS TO GE IT IS UP TO ME!
