- Senior Garrett Mays established a new single season stolen bases record in the first inning of the Tuesday, May 8, game at home against Fair Play by swiping second. Mays stole three bases in the game to put his total at 29 for the season. His dad, Jarrod Mays, stole 26 bases in one year during his career at EHS. When Mays hit a single in his first time at bat in the lead-off position, he immediately took a long lead, too long. It looked like the pick-off attempt had him, but he headed for second and beat the throw from first. Coach Osborne, from his position as third base coach, said, “It counts.”
