On Saturday, May 12, the El Dorado Springs High School track team took six girls to Fair Grove for the Class 2 Section 3 Track Meet. These six had to qualify at the District meet the week before to get here.

At the Sectional meet, Taylor Alumbaugh got things started by placing 1st in the high jump. Next up was the 4 x 800 meter relay team, consisting of Rachel Bush, Elizabeth Clark, Hannah Bruggeman and Kate Sibley, which placed 4th with a season best time of 10:24.

Taylor then continued her run by winning the 200 m. dash and placing 2nd in the 400 m. dash. Hannah Bruggeman finished 6th in the 3200 m. run. The day was wrapped up with the 4 x 400 meter relay team placing 3rd with a season best time of 4:14.

Those placing in the top four at the Sectional meet qualified to move on to the State track and field meet this coming weekend, which will be held at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

We saw five of our six events at Sectionals qualify on to the State track meet. Those qualifying are: Taylor Alumbaugh in the High Jump, 200 m. dash and 400 m. dash; the 4 x 400 meter relay team consisting of Taylor Alumbaugh, Rachel Bush, Emily Carver and Kate Sibley; and the 4 x 800 meter relay team consisting of Rachel Bush, Elizabeth Clark, Hannah Bruggeman and Kate.

We have competed against some of the best competition in the state on a regular basis, and feel like we have a good chance of competing in all these events at state. The state meet is held on Friday and Saturday.
