– Woods Store Manager Jeff Witt and Woods Bakery Director Tony Gingerich got up close and personal with cream pies on Friday, May 25, at the Pie in the Face event held at Woods in El Dorado Springs. Jeff had been approached by the bakery employees, asking if they could interest him in little pie pitching if they sold 150 cakes in one week. He said it would take 225 to do the trick. In a seven day period, they sold 232 cakes and got the opportunity to give Jeff his “just deserts.”* Pie Pitchers were Grocery/Assistant Manger Connie Smith, Bakery/Deli Manager Lacy Charles, Produce Manager Beverly Knight and Bakery/Deli Clerk Alta Michaels.

* “Just Deserts,” meaning what one deserves either good or bad, has been in English usage since the 13th century. And yes, it is spelled correctly.
