The El Dorado Springs Chamber of Commerce luncheon for June on Thursday, June 14, was well attended by our community. The meal was catered by Jeff Witt, manager of Woods Supermarket.

New members to the Chamber were announced. They are Cedar County Community Organization Active in Disaster (CCCOAD), What Not’s, Fidelity Communications and Shopko (Pamida). Chamber donations were made this month for the Relay for Life Event and the Ronald McDonald Charity Day which was held at our local McDonalds.

A very important issue discussed was: Before we can place an order for our 2012 Commemorative Plate, we need pre-orders due to the many 2011 plates left unsold. We can possibly order 50 plates from Bryan China Company instead of 75. The cost of 2012 plates will be $25. Call the Chamber at 876-4154 if you would like to make arrangements for your order.

The Chamber does not want to drop this long running project, but cost effectiveness is a huge issue.

The monthly speakers were Cheryl Duly, director of W.I.N.G.S. Refuge and Cyndi Trapp, director of Angel House Maternity Home. Both very informative of both their ministries and their upcoming fundraising event on June 30, called Glitz and Glamour Fashion Gala. Purse Auction and Fashion Show . This event will be held at the 1st Baptist Church starting at 11 a.m. Both ladies spoke about the rising need to help women who have fallen into many different and difficult circumstances when there seems to be no help for them through the usual avenues.
