The Schell City/Harwood UMW met Wednesday evening, June 20, for their regular monthly meeting at Madalyn’s Kitchen. Those present were Pastor Connie Locke, Jewell and Helen Ellerman, Jeanie O’Brien, Frances Lewis, Madalyn Crocker, Mandy Crocker, Ruth Ijams, Sharon Sterling, Jeannie Ireland and Mary Ireland. President Helen Ellerman conducted the business meeting. She gave the devotion taken from Luke 6:43-45. The purpose of UMW was repeated in unison. The card chairman reported sending several cards. President Ellerman presented a UMW pin to Jeanie O’Brien. They decided they would meet Thursday, July 5, at 9 a.m. in the Schell City United Methodist Church basement to sack up the things from their spring sale to get tidied up for their sale in October.

Jeannie Ireland, who is shepherds for the UMW was present as she told about things that are going to take place in the District. Her mother, Mary Ireland, was with her and she is also a District officer. Jeanie O’Brien had the lesson which was “The Call to Prayer” and “Self Denial.” They had a salad super before the meeting with several fruit salads, pasta salad, cheese and crackers, deviled eggs, cookies, iced tea and coffee. Their next meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Madalyn’s Kitchen July 18.

Church service was held at the Harwood Baptist Church Sunday, June 24. Brother Cliff Bennett’s sermon “You’re Not Your Own” taken from I Corinthians 6:18-20.

Those having dinner at Madalyn’s Kitchen after church Sunday, June 24, were Jewell and Helen Ellerman, Jeanie O’Brien and Ruth Ijams.

Jewell and Helen Ellerman, Anne Schnize and grandson, B.J., attended Wilbur’s fireworks show Tuesday, June 19.

Pastor Connie Locke was a Sunday, June 24, dinner guest in the home of her parents, Ben and Gloria Locke, at Nevada. It was her dad’s birthday. His sister, Vickie Dilly, of Nevada was there.

John Lewis is in the Appleton City Nursing Home for a while until he gets his strength back. He went there from the hospital. His wife, Frances, daughter, Frances Ava Murell, grandson, Cary Joe Dunn, granddaughter, Brandi Urley and Pastor Connie Locke visited him. He would enjoy getting cards.

Church service was held at the Schell City United Methodist Church Sunday, June 24. Lawrence Cripps was the guest speaker. Their pastor, Connie Locke, went to Horton and Metz to give communion. Lawrence is the lay person at both churches. Lawrence’s sermon “Do You Know Him” was taken from II Timothy 1:8-12. He played a special on the piano, “O Lord Abide With Me.” Jeanie O’Brien led the Sunday School lesson “Heart of The Law” Deuteronomy 10:12-22.
