Head Football Coach Bob Ramsey said of his team’s performance at the Football Jamboree last Friday night in Fair Grove, “Not too bad. Not too bad. A lot better than we looked at that Red & Black Scrimmage.”
“We played Fair Grove. I was really happy with the way the defense played. We didn’t give up a first down to Fair Grove.”
“We got a defensive touchdown and got another turnover.”
“Offensively we scored a couple of touchdowns. I thought Kason Schwalm threw the ball well and had a touchdown run. Tanner Hixson – we know that he can do from last year – he had a couple of nice runs. James Dubois caught a pass and made a nice run for a touchdown.”
“Real happy with the way the Jamboree started.”
“The second game we played Miller. We both scored two touchdowns.”
“I thought offensively we moved the ball well.”
“Miller has a big class of seniors. They think this is their year to make a run if they are going to do it.”
“Our last game was against Springfield Catholic – a 3A school, a very good football school. They scored twice. We did not score.”
“Defensively we played pretty well. Physically, we were getting worked over a little bit up front.”
“Overall we were pleased with the progress we made. Hopefully we will make another step this week and be ready for the Stockton Tigers.”
Q. Any idea how that might go?
“I think we match up pretty well. Both teams are young. We are both sitting at about seven seniors. They have a new coach so we don’t know except for a few plays at Jamboree what they do on offense and defense. I have no idea what they are going to do on special teams because we don’t have any tape on them. This is a first year head coach so we could see anything.”
“Size-wise and speed-wise I thin we match up real well. It should be a good ball game.”
“The game will start at 7 p.m. Friday night in Stockton.”
