Richard Alva Jackson, 68, El Dorado Springs, passed away in Cedar County Memorial Hospital on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, following a very painful battle with lung cancer. Born Oct. 31, 1943, Richard was the son of Alva and Irene (Galloway) Jackson.
Richard lived his entire life in and around the El Dorado springs area. He worked for the railroad, was in real estate, a cattle farmer and a jack-of-all-trades.
Richard was saved and baptized early in life and later rededicated his life to Christ with Rev. James Coleman. Richard was a cheerful spirit that knew how to enjoy life and live every day to the fullest.
Richard is survived by his mother, Irene Jackson; two sons, Kevin, Darrin Owsley – wife Alberta Jackson; one daughter, Richelle and husband, Chipper Owsley; nine grandchildren, BreAnn, Nicole and husband, Rollando, Juston, Heather, Jayson, Tamra, Taylor, Brent and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Steven Gregory and Emma Grace; One sister, Ella Mae McNeece; two nephews, Doug and wife Kristin, and Don McNeece; the mothers of his children, Ann Jackson and Dianna Hargrave who remained lifelong friends; as well as aunts, great nephews, great nieces, cousins and friends.
He was precdeded in death by one son, Greg Jackson; one daughter-in-law, Leisa Jackson; his father, Alva Jackson; maternal grandparents, Dave and Alta Galloway; and paternal grandparents, George and Emma Jackson.
Graveside services were held Monday, Aug. 20 at the Hazel Dell Cemetery with Rev. James Coleman officiating.
Pallbearers were Juston Jackson, Jayson Owsley, Brent Jackson, Jacob Owsley, Doug McNeece, Don McNeece, Michael Ellifrits, John Burton and Donny Barker.
