El Dorado Springs JV shuts down Stockton Tigers

The El Dorado Springs Bulldogs JV opened their 2017 football season Monday night against the Stockton Tigers with a solid victory with a score of 34 to 12.

Stockton started off on offense and went 3 and out. El Dorado Springs marched down the field and scored a TD. This came from a long run by freshmen Gaven Morgan. The two point conversion afterwards was no good to put the Bulldogs up 6 to 0.

The Bulldogs defense played well led by Trey Graves and prevented the Stockton offense from moving the ball again in the quarter. They were soon forced to kick the ball. The Bulldog offense then marched down the field to score another TD with a solid run by QB Brayden Housh. The two point conversion was successful putting ElDo up 14 to 0.

The defense then stepped up again causing a 3 and out resulting in a punt by Stockton. The ball was fumbled and picked up by Stockton. This then lead to the end of the first quarter with the Bulldogs leading 16 to 0.

Yet again the defense stood up causing the Stockton Tigers to turn the ball over due to downs. Gaven Morgan then broke away with a long run to score a TD putting the Bulldogs up 20 to 0. The 2 point conversion was no good.

The Bulldogs defense then picked off a pass by Stockton Tigers QB and set the Bulldogs offense up with good field condition. On the first play Gaven Morgan then took it to the house putting the Bulldogs up 26 to 0. The two-point conversion was no good. This lead to the end of the first half with the Bulldogs leading 26 to 0.

The third quarter was quiet for both teams. The Bulldogs defense played well and shut the Stockton offense down. At the end of the third quarter the score was still 26 to 0.

The Stockton Tigers scored a TD in the early minutes of the 4th quarter making the score 26 to 6. The 2-point conversion was no good. Gaven Morgan then went on another run taking it to the end zone for the last TD scored for the night by the Bulldogs putting them up 32 to 6. The two point conversion was successful making the score 34 to 6. Stockton’s offense scored the last TD of the night. The two point conversion was no good making the score 34 to 12.

The final score of the first JV game for the Bulldogs was 34 to 12 with the Bulldogs getting their first victory of the season.

The JV coaches were pleased with the results. Quite a few of the players were able to get some playing time and gain some experience. There are things they need to improve on and are excited to see what the future holds for the Bulldog program. The goal is to keep getting better each day at practice and showing it on game day.

The JV will play Pembroke Hill at home this Saturday at 1p.m.
