James Rountree, 82, former resident of El Dorado Springs, passed away Aug. 9, 2012 surrounded by his family in Littleton, CO.
He was born in Bolivar on Aug. 24, 1929, to Ben and Leona Rountree. James was a member of the 1947 graduating class of El Dorado Springs High School. On Dec. 11, 1948, he was united in marriage to Wanda Lynn who survives James. James and Wanda were the parents of three children – Glen (Debbie), Jim (Lori) and Ann (Greg). James was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lode in Missouri.
James lived in Green River, WY, for 37 years. He was employed for many years by Church and Dwight in Green River. He was an EMT on Green River’s first Volunteer Ambulance crew, worked as a volunteer at the Crisis Intervention Center and served on the Green River Planning and Zoning Commission. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He knew the backcountry of Wyoming like a frontier scout.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; his children; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren (with another on the way); and two sister-in-laws, Beverly Rountree and Beula Tolle. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carl.
James was cremated at his request and no service will be conducted, also at his request.
