Edward Michael “Butch” Best, 60, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday morning, Aug. 22, 2012, at Magnolia Square Nursing Home in Springfield following a brief illness. He was born Dec. 19, 1951, in Carrollton, IL, to Richard Carroll Best and Florence Louise Fogarty Best.
Butch came to Nevada with his family at a young age in 1959. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1970. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. Butch worked in commercial construction as safety inspector all of his adult life. He had worked for Schafer, Kline, and Warren Construction in Kansas City for the past eight years. Butch loved to hunt, fish and was a member of the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America.
Survivors include six sisters – Marjorie Sanders and her husband, Dennis – Slater, Rebecca Williams – Independence, Carolyn Keith and her husband, Dennis – El Dorado Springs, Nancy Dillon and her husband, Ronald – Shelton, WA, Bunny Sherrill and her husband, Jason – Springfield and Marsha Best – Springfield; numerous nieces and nephews and his loyal Jack Russell terrier, “Chase”.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Patrick.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 25, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada.
