The weather sure has been nice for all of the activities going on in the area; corn is being harvested, last of the hay is being baled, gardens are still producing, some have even planted fall gardens. The wild flowers are really pretty along the country roads. The fall leaves should be real pretty this year.

Congratulations to our new citizens in the neighborhood, Justin and Karen Dodson, had a daughter, Ester Joy.

Over at the Robin Siegismund farm, Belle and Robin celebrated Robin’s birthday watching the plumber fix the water for the house. Robin went out for lunch and Belle was happy to escort the UPS truck to the house; we haven’t figured out if Belle likes the brown truck or the packages.

Labor Day dinner guests in the Marge Zink and Stacy and Mike Griffith homes were Howard and Dixie Peterson and Tom and Beverly Pelkey. Tom is doing fine from his eye surgery and now can mow grass and get more winter wood cut. So far the critters have not eaten the wiring on the truck and the kittens are growing.

Recent visitors in the Howard and Dixie Peterson home have been Kent, Mitchel, Jodi and Tucker Crawford and Beth; Howard and Dixie enjoyed supper at the deer camp.

Marge Zink visited Ginger Barnes, Ginger was busy making salsa; the Barnes have a beautiful garden.

Several from the area attended the VFW Post 11242 meeting Thursday. Meetings are now held in the Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Appleton City with supper at 6:30 p.m. and meeting at 7:30 pm. We are looking for members, both ladies and men. We have been busy with parades, funerals and school visits. Call Bob or Sheri at 660-598-4044 for information.

Mabel Siegismund enjoyed visiting granddaughter, Emily, in Cole Camp recently.

John and Julia Snethen visited friends over Labor Day weekend and spent a quite Labor Day at home. They attended a grave side service in Clinton on Wednesday and on Friday they spent some time in Butler eating out before returning home.
