Last Friday night, the El Dorado Springs Bulldog football team went to Stockton on a mission, to win the fight over a pigskin filled with air and bring home a Cedar Bowl that no on has ever eaten anything out of.
They did both pleasing themselves and their fans.
The game got off to a good start for both the Bulldogs and the Stockton Tigers.
With 3:38 left in the 1st quarter, sophomore Quarterback Kason Schwalm ran the ball in from one yard out. The Kyle Collins PAT kick was good. Score 7-0 Bulldogs.
Then with 2:23 left in the 1st quarter, Stockton quarterback Kai Brown connected with Nathan Kerr on a screen pass and Kerr scampered 65 yards for a TD. The Brown PAT kick failed. Score: 7-6 ElDo.
With 10:09 left in the 1st half, Tanner Hixson streaked across the goal line for a TD. The kick failed. Score 13 – 7 Bulldogs. With 8:28 before half, Schwalm ran five yards for a TD. Then he passed to Robert Keith for the 2-point conversion. Score: 21-6 Bulldogs.
With 18 seconds left in the game, Tanner Hixson ran three yards for a TD. The Kyle Collins kick was good. Final score: 28-6 Bulldogs.
Sockton made four first downs to 17 for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs rushed for 253 yards and had no passing yards going 0 for 3. The Tigers rushed for 34 yards and made 94 yards passing for a total of 128 yards on six of 11 attempts. Both teams fumbled three times. The Bulldogs lost one, the Tigers none.
The Bulldogs ran 57 plays in 28:46 minutes. The Tigers ran 37 plays in 19:14 minutes.
