VolleyDogs take third at Branson tourney

The El Dorado Springs varsity volleyball team travelled to the Branson Tournament on Sept. 8.

During pool play, El Dorado split with Hollister 22-25, 25-22; defeated College Heights 25-15, 25-20 and defeated Rogers 25-17, 25-21.

The VolleyDogs came out top seed in their pool and met Clinton in the first round of tournament play. ElDo easily defeated Clinton 25-15, 25-16.

During the semi-final match, ElDo took on a very tall and talented Fair Grove. ElDo lost the match 18-25, 25-27 finishing the tournament with a third place tie with Hollister.

“I was pleased with our progression of play during the tournament,” said Coach Tonya Hooper. “We continue to see new aspects of the game and it’s making us a more complete team. The first loss of a season is tough, but Fair Grove is a talented ball club that we could see again in post season.”

Tournament stats include: Kaili Simmons – 24 kills, 10 service aces, 24 digs, six blocks; Alexa Schaaf – 21 kills, four service aces, 17 digs, five blocks; Kameron Schaaf – 15 kills, six service aces, four digs, 13 blocks; Kinli Simmons – 13 kills, one service ace, 30 assists, 24 digs, seven blocks; Brooke Stacy – nine kills, three service aces, 39 assists, six digs, seven blocks; Courtney Hooper – six kills, 10 blocks; Payton Hallford – six kills, four blocks; Fallyn Ozbun – one kill, two service aces; Lakyn Coleman – one service ace, four digs; Kylie Hughes – one service ace, one dig; Kate Sibley – 17 digs.
