Marty and Rich Patton have returned from Colome, SD, where they visited Rich’s mom, Vera Patton, and attended the first Patton family reunion. Family came from across South Dakota as well as Wyoming, Minnesota and of course Missouri. They got to meet some of the new in-laws to the family as well as several of the small kids for the first time.
The Toepfer Reunion was held Sunday at Guinn Park in Fort Scott with about 35 in attendance. Attending from this area were Lloyd and Lois (Toepfer) McGraw and their eight children; Russell and Teresa McGraw and Katie – El Dorado Springs; Glenda and Darrell Gresham – Coyle, OK; Lela McGraw and Vanita McGraw – Edmund, OK; Sheila Cameron and her daughter, Alicia, and husband, John Jean, and son Braxton – Springfield; Leroy and Janet McGraw; Nathan and Michael – Piedmont, OK; Vernon and Misty McGraw; Tiffany and ReAnna – Nevada and John and Julie McGraw and Jackson – Nevada.
Charles and I enjoyed attending the Vickers Apple Butter Festival Sunday.
Visiting with Jerry and Jenise Burch from Monday to Thursday were his cousin and husband, Joan and Peter Barker, and her daughter, Suzy – Brooklyn, NY. One day they went to Independence to the Historic Square and took a tour on a wagon train pulled by mules. It was a narrated tour and they went by the Harry Truman home where he told of Beth Wallace Truman’s family ties in Independence. Afterwards, they went antiquing around the square. On Thursday, Jerry took them to the White Grill in Nevada. Jered and Crystal Burch, Kate and Cole and Helen Kennedy joined them for Supper Wednesday evening at the Jerry Burch home.
The NEVC 7th and 8th grade basketball teams played at Ballard, Walker and Calhoun this week with several fan members attending.
Christine and Corey Graham and several members of the Walker 4-H attended the 4-H Chicken Barbecue in Nevada Saturday evening.
Alberta and Glen Hays attended an Eastern Star meeting in Columbia Sunday.
Bob and Jane Hutchison have a new great-grandson. Emrys Charles Good was born to Eric and Aubrey Good. Eric is the son of Mike and Arlene (Hutchison) Good.
Charles Foreman and David Foreman attended the 54 Cruisers Car Club in El Dorado Springs Friday evening.
Bobby and Karen Hutchison spent Friday night with Bob and Jane Hutchison.
Betty and Norman Radde attended the Senior Citizen meeting in Liberal.
Jenise Burch attended the DAR Tour Saturday at Poplar Heights Farm near Butler. Lisa Christie accompanied her as her guest.
Carter Foreman spent Thursday and Friday with Charles and me.
Bethany Denae Willman and Kenneth Wayne Jennings are getting married Dec. 8 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nevada.
The Postal Service will hold a meeting at the Walker Post Office at 116 E. Marvin Ave., Walker on Nov. 1, at 2:30 p.m. to answer questions and provide additional information. Plan to attend and support your community.
