VolleyDogs fine-tuning offense

The El Dorado Springs VolleyDogs are fine tuning their passing as they look to the post season.

The El Dorado Springs volleyball teams continued their season at home against Osceola on Oct. 1.

The JV team came away victorious in a two set win 25-22, 25-18.

Megan Chism led her team in kills with seven. Fallyn Ozbun, Kameron Schaaf and Taylor North each added two kills. Rachel Bush led the team in service aces with three. Olivia Hallford had 14 assists. Chism and North combined for five blocks during the win.

Coach Jeanie Norman commented on her team’s win, “It was another good win for the JV. We overcame a lot of errors to get the win, but it showed just how much heart the girls have. They don’t give up. They continue to fight until the game is over.”

The varsity VolleyDogs kept the momentum going as they defeated Osceola 25-21, 25-17.

Payton Hallford led the team in kills with nine. Kaili Simmons followed with five and Alexa Schaaf had four. Alexa Schaaf also led the team in service aces with two. Kinli Simmons had 14 assists and Brooke Stacy had seven. Kaili Simmons led the team in digs with 11. Kate Sibley had seven. Payton Hallford had one solo block and two block assists. Kameron Schaaf had four block assists and Courtney Hooper had three block assists.

“We played focused against Osceola,” said Coach Tonya Hooper. “Osceola has a solid program that can sneak up on a team and beat them. We kept them in check throughout the night. We also continue to work on fine-tuning our passing for a multi-threat offense. I’m encouraged with the progress the team is making.”

The VolleyDogs host Stockton on Oct. 9 and will wrap up their season at home on Oct. 16 against Adrian. Senior volleyball players will be recognized during the Adrian match.

The JV team will travel to the Fair Grove tournament on Oct. 13.
