Marcella Marlys Dade, 83, the daughter of William and Eva (Hill) Bauer, was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Taberville and passed from this life on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Home in Belton.

Marcella attended grade school in the one-room Osage School in Taberville, three years at Rockville High School, then graduated from Schell City High School in 1947.

As a young girl, she was baptized in the Osage River.

On Jan. 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to Everett Leo Dade and moved to Kansas City. They soon bought a home in Independence where they lived for over 30 years. They lived for 20 years before on a farm north of Harrisonville. She worked as a typist for five years for Sears, but quit to become a full time mother when their first son was born. Another son and daughter were added to the family.

She volunteered as a leader in both the Boy and Girl Scouts for all three of her children. She enjoyed gardening, decorating cakes and sewing. She also loved returning to Schell City, the area of her adolescence, and working and spending time on their farm. She enjoyed working with their cattle and just getting out and walking around the farm. But the most important thing to her was always her family and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marcella is survived by her husband, Everett, who now resides at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Home. Also surviving are two sons, Larry D. Dade – Kansas City and Roger W. Dade and his wife, Marcia – Harwood; one daughter, Marlys L. Gerhart and her husband, Forrest – Blue Springs; eight grandchildren – Andrea Henry, Beth Hess, Kara Bruner, Roger Dade Jr., Megan Scott, Laura Kackley, Jenna Dade and Chasten Gerhart; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, along with four brothers and one sister – Johnnie, Joe, Howard, and William Bauer Jr, and Alberta Ammons. She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Services were held Thursday, Oct. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Schell City with Bro. Craig Kackley and Bro. Doug Reynolds officiating. Musical selections were provided by David Souza and Kelly Davis. Pallbearers were Roger Dade Jr., Randall Henry, Chasten Gerhart, David Scott, Wayne Hess, Matthew Bruner and Craig Kackley. Honorary pallbearer was William Bauer. Interment followed in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention or the Northeast Vernon County Schools.

Arrangements for Mrs. Dade were entrusted to the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City.
