The St. Clair County Commission met Monday, April 9, with Robert Salmon, presiding commissioner, Leroy Strope, north commissioner, Gerald Williams, south commissioner, Debbie Peden, county clerk and Marian McCaslin, administrative assistant present.

The Commissioners and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed a battery for a motor grader, motor grader locations, roads, culverts and bridges.

Sales Tax Revenues for February 2018, were $26,544.75. Sales Tax Revenues compared to one year ago were up $1,040.43.

The Commissioners and County Clerk Debbie Peden discussed the necessity of possibly building pallets to place the voting equipment on to get them off of the floor in the storage room.

At 10:55 a.m. the Commissioners recessed to inspect a bridge on SE 871 Rd.

Commissioners met Wednesday, April 11, with all present.

Teresa Heckenlively, St. Clair County Economic Developer, was in with a request for a letter of support for a grant for funding for Economic Development.

Steve Pierce, Chairman of Local Emergency Planning Commission, was in to introduce himself and get the Commissioners signatures for a report to the State for hazardous chemicals locations in the County.

Commissioner Williams made a motion to approve Land Commissioner’s Sale to Gregory N. O’Rear for lot 12, Block 28, Plat 6 of Twin Oaks Harbor for a selling price of $340.63. Motion carried.

Floor tile samples were viewed and discussed for updating hallway floors on the first floor of the Courthouse.

Commission met Monday, April 16, with all present.

The Commissioners and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed culverts, culvert installation, motor grader locations and culvert drainage.

Bids were opened at 10 a.m. on Chloe Special Road District Bridge 3096008. Lindsey Chaffin, representing Great River Engineering, was present for bid opening. Chaffin reported the bids will be checked for proper credentials as well as the first and second low bidder, and the Commissioners will be notified.

The Commissioners discussed the update on the hallway floors for the first floor of the Courthouse.

The Commissioners and County Clerk Debbie Peden viewed and discussed storage for Voting equipment.

Commission met Wednesday, April 18, with all present.

The Commissioners and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed plastic and aluminized pipe for durability. The discussed ordering pipe.

Presiding Commissioner Salmon spoke with Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Commission regarding census information.

Teresa Heckenlively, St. Clair County Economic Developer, met with the Commissioners and discussed different aspects of development for the County. Some subjects discussed were the Barn Quilt Tour and Farmer’s Markets.

The Commissioners and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed residence and road numbers, motor graders locations and culverts.

Brandon Baker was in to discuss the sale of hospital property located in Hickory County. The Commission stated they need a copy of the Board Minutes and a Resolution as in the past approving of the sale.

Presiding Commissioner Salmon reported he had spoken to a local citizen regarding an object in the road which ruined a tire on the vehicle.

Jeanne Beas brought in new By-Laws for Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC) for the Commissioners to sign.
