Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made seven arrests, took a fraud report, and a burglary report during the week of

Jan. 1-8, 2018.

Warrant Arrests

Jan. 1- Ashley Vanderburg, 28, Nevada, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

  The charges stem from a traffic stop by a St. Clair County deputy on Nov. 17, 2017. During the traffic stop, a K9 did an exterior sniff search of the vehicle, and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag, that field tested positive for methamphetamines.

Jan. 3 – Christopher Gurley, 34, Lowry City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class E felony violation of an order of protection for adult. Bond is set at $4,000 cash or surety.

The warrant comes after Gurley entered a house where the residents had an order of protection against him.

Jan. 3 – Tanner Devereaux, 23, Salem, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class E felony resisting arrest/detention by fleeing-creating a substantial risk of serious injury/death to any person. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

The charge comes from a St. Clair County investigation into some stolen gasoline from Casey’s General Store in Osceola. A deputy tried to pull over a vehicle matching the description given to him from the Casey’s employee. The vehicle failed to yield to the deputy. The vehicle Devereaux was diving wrecked, and he and the passenger fled on foot from the deputy.

Jan. 3, Cody Martin, 24, Salem, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class A misdemeanor resisting or interfering with arrest/detention/stop. Bond is set at $2,500 cash or surety.

The charge comes from a St. Clair County investigation into some stolen gasoline from Casey’s General Store in Osceola. A deputy tried to pull the vehicle over and the driver failed to yield to the deputy. The vehicle wrecked and Martin and the driver fled on foot from the deputy.

Jan. 4 – David Mitchell, 50, Seymor, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with an unclassified misdemeanor of failing to pay fines. Bond is set at $371.50 cash only.

Jan. 7 – Jacqueline Schwartz, 22, Appleton City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class D felony of tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree. Bond is set at $3,500 cash or surety.

The warrant comes after a deputy took a report of a stolen vehicle from Charlene Klinksick. Klinksick stated she was watching her son’s vehicle while he was out of town. Klinksick stated her daughter, Jacqueline Schwartz, came into the house, grabbed the keys to the vehicle, and then drove the vehicle away from the house. Klinksick called Schwartz on the phone and told her to bring the vehicle back. Schwartz refused to do so.

Jan. 8 – Joshua Bellington, 34, Clinton, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy during a traffic stop on a Jackson County warrant. The warrant charges Bellington with failure to appear in court on a class C felony possession of a controlled substance and a class A misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $2,500 cash or surety and 10% cash only.

Burglary in Appleton City

Jan. 5 – A St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to 6485 NW Hwy M, Appleton City in reference to theft.

   Upon arrival the deputy spoke with Darryl Preston. Preston stated he returned to the job site this morning to find his tool trailer had been broken into and the front door of the house he was working on was standing open.

  Preston showed the deputy where the lock had been cut off the back door of the trailer and was missing. He also showed the deputy where the trailer had been damaged when a vehicle hit the right side fender, causing $350 in damage. Preston stated there were several tools missing from the trailer, DeWalt sawzall, Miketa chop saw, DeWalt grinder, Porter Cable respiration tool, two Porter Cable nail guns, extension cord, and small hand tools. Estimated total value is $2075.

  Preston filled out a request for prosecution. Evidence was collected from the scene.

Fraud in Lowry City

Jan. 8 – A St. Clair County deputy met with Heather Crawford at 3710 NE 800 Road in regards to fraud.

Crawford stated on Jan. 7, she received an email from what she thought was ITunes/Apple Inc. stating that her account was disabled and she needed to verify her information on her account. The information included her name, address, Social Security number, phone number and her credit card information.

Crawford stated she was alerted via her phone that a purchase had been made on her card. She stated she did not make that purchase and the PayPal account it was sent to was not hers. She also stated she had changed her password to her ITunes account via her actual account. Apple Inc. sent her a confirmation email. Crawford stated the previous email and the actual Apple Inc. email were different.

A request for prosecution has been filed.
