ST. CLAIR COUNTY SHERIFF

Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made seven arrests and took a stealing report during the week of Feb. 18-25, 2019.

Warrant Arrests

Abigail Hovey- On Feb. 24, Abigail Hovey, 19, Bolivar, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Polk County warrant for failure to appear in court on an original infraction charge for failure to display plates on a motor vehicle. Bond is set at $300 cash only.

The original charge comes from the Missouri State Highway Patrol in October 2018.

Haylee Sielman- On Feb. 23, Haylee Sielman, 18, Archie, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear in court on an unclassified misdemeanor for shoplifting. Bond is set at $500 cash or surety.

The original charge come from a Clinton Police Department investigation.

Matthew Saunders- On Feb. 21, Matthew Saunders, 20, Willard, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid of 10 grams or less-prior drug offense, and a class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Saunders was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy performed a traffic stop on the vehicle Saunders was a passenger in for a traffic violation. The deputy made contact with the driver and a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. The driver and passengers were asked to exit the vehicle. The deputy conducted a search of the vehicle and found a backpack that Saunders admitted to being his. Inside the backpack, the deputy located a glass marijuana bong and a plastic baggie with a powdery substance inside of it. Saunders stated the powder was Ketamine.

While being searched inside the jail, the Correctional Staff found a smoking device on Saunders’ person. Saunders advised the liquid inside the device was THC oil.

Kyle O’Neil- On Feb. 21, Kyle O’Neil, 26, Springfield, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid of 10 grams or less-prior drug offense. O’Neil was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that O’Neil was a passenger in for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver and other occupants, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. The driver and passengers were asked to exit the vehicle. O’Neil advised the deputy he had a marijuana grinder in his pocket and handed it to the deputy.

The deputy did a pat search of O’Neil before being placed into the patrol car and noticed an extremely strong smell of marijuana. He was advised if he brought anything illegal into the jail, it would result into more charges. O’Neil advised he did have a bag of marijuana in his pants. O’Neil turned the bag over to the deputy.

Brandon Cook- On Feb. 21, Brandon Cook, 29, Highlandville, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Christian County warrant charging him with failure to appear in court on an original class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $400 cash only.

The original charge comes from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office in September 2017.

Russell Moore- On Feb. 21, Russell Moore, 60, Humansville, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with failure to appear in court for failure to pay fines on original charges of a class A misdemeanor stealing and a class B misdemeanor trespass in the first degree. Bond is set at $641.50 cash only.

The original charges come from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation into a stolen property report on March 24, 2018. Norman Botwink filed a report that someone came onto his property and stole a spinner target. During the investigation, and combing over the evidence, it was revealed that Moore had stolen the property. The stolen spinner target was removed from Moore’s property and returned to Mr. Botwink.

Lonnie Nall, Sr.- On Feb. 20, Lonnie Nall, Sr., 57, Warsaw, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for a probation violation on an original class C felony theft/stealing. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

The original charge stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation in October 2012. Nall had made arrangements to buy a refrigerated trailer with Dean Alexander. Nall had picked up the trailer and stopped making payments. Numerous attempts were made to contact Nall, with negative results.

Stealing and Property Damage in Collins

On Feb. 24, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to the Bullseye Gas Station in Collins in reference to stealing and property damage.

The deputy made contact with Leland Smith. Smith stated sometime during the past 48 hours, someone took two overhead light fixtures from the canopy. He also stated that while they were stealing the light fixtures, the canopy was damaged.

Total estimated loss is $2,600. The deputy photographed the scene and searched for evidence.

Warrant Arrests

Douglas Dozler- On March 1, Douglas Dozler, 53, El Dorado Springs, was arrested on a probation violation on an original class C felony theft/stealing. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

The original charge comes from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Sept. 25, 2012. Dozler was convicted of stealing from a construction site.

Lissa Heartling- On Feb. 26, Lissa Heartling, 35, Bolivar, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class D felony non-support, total arrears in excess of 12 monthly payments due under order of support. Bond is set at $5,000 cash surety.

Attempted Stealing from Collins

On March 3, a St. Clair County deputy made contact with Mike Garlett from Mike’s Wrecker Service in regards to stealing. Garlett stated one of his drivers had pulled a vehicle from a ditch in the early hours of March 3. After getting the vehicle unstuck, the driver of the vehicle drove off without paying.

Garlett stated the tow truck driver followed the vehicle into Polk County, where the vehicle slid into a ditch again. The passenger of the vehicle fled on foot into the woods. The driver stayed in the vehicle along with a juvenile. Garlett stated the tow truck driver had called Polk County and they refused to come to the scene. The tow truck driver loaded the vehicle onto the tow truck. Someone did come and picked up the driver and juvenile and the vehicle was transported to their lot.

Stealing in Osceola

On Feb. 28, a St. Clair County deputy took a report of stealing from a residence on SE 1251 Road. Paul Evans came into the Sheriff’s Office to file the report. Evans stated he is renting the property out. Evans also stated he went to the property to retrieve his tools from the shed. While in the shed he noticed his Milwaukee Sawzall was missing. Evans stated the tenant has used it in the past and told Evans he had put it back into the shed.

Estimated lost value is $150. Evans filled out a request for prosecution.
