Recovered Motorcycles in Collins

On May 5, while on patrol of the county, a deputy noticed two sport bike motorcycles that were traveling faster than the posted speed limit. The deputy turned his patrol vehicle around and caught up with the motorcycles as they exited onto Highway 54 eastbound. The deputy activated his emergency lights and sirens and the one motorcycle rider slowed down the second one did not. The deputy notified dispatch of the failure to yield and continued on Highway 54 eastbound. The second motorcycle continued east at speeds in excess of 120 mph. While trying to negotiate a curve to the left, the rider lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a ditch on the south side of the roadway. The deputy requested medical assistance to the scene.

The deputy began rendering first aid to the rider. The rider was identified as Ryan Rauscher by his Missouri non driver’s license. After the ambulance arrived on scene, the deputy did a record check of Rauscher. It was discovered that Rauscher’s driver’s license was currently revoked. A record check of the motorcycle revealed it was stolen out of Blue Springs, Missouri.

The rider of the crashed bike was transported to the hospital.

While en route back to the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy noticed a male subject walking north on the shoulder of Highway 13 that matched the description of the other motorcycle rider. The deputy asked a deputy to stop and make contact with him. A deputy made contact with the man, identified as Victor Reyes. Reyes stated his car had broken down, that is why he was walking.

The first deputy checked the area south of where contact was made with Reyes. The deputy located a Suzuki sport motorcycle. The first deputy had the second deputy detain Reyes until they could figure out the status of the motorcycle. A records check revealed it was not stolen. Reyes was released.

Dispatch later informed the deputies that the owner of the Suzuki motorcycle was located. A deputy made contact with the owner. He stated the Suzuki motorcycle was stolen from his residence in February. He did not report it stolen because he was working in Texas at the time.

Charges have been filed against the two motorcycle riders.
