After the El Dorado Springs school board finished its joint meeting with other officials on the subject of a School Resource Officer, Chairman Darrell Eason went back to the agenda items.

In his construction report, Supt. Mark Koca reported that the school will have about $130,000 – $150,000 out of pocket expense on items that were not included in the construction bid.

He said the new gym will be put to immediate use.

He reported that the school tech, Brent Hillsman, learned that the seven thermostats in the new building are not compatible with the rest of the HVAC system in the school and can’t be programmed. The superintendent said that was included in the bid package and “somebody is going to buy us new thermostats.”

Supt. Koca said the construction company damaged the concrete floors and he has requested more floor grinding to take out the marks and make the floors look better.

In the Food Service financial report, Supt. Koca said the service lost $3,248 in September and $9,3564 in October. They sold 4,000 more lunches in October. He said the problem is that the students who are eligible for free lunches (for which the school is reimbursed by the government) are not eating and the students who pay full  price are eating. Those lunches are not priced high enough for the food service to break even.

The board approved the October transportation route miles and ridership list as presented.

The board approved a request for proposal for student transportation with the bids to be opened at the January meeting.

The board approved issuing a request for proposal for the upper gym floor refinishing and requesting bids on new seating for the High School upper gym..

The board accepted a bid from Renee Ainley of $750 for the old walk-in freezer.

The board and superintendent discussed use of the school logo and decided it is OK for local use.
