The El Dorado Springs R-II School Board met on Thursday, May 11, 2017.

All members were present: Chad Whitesell, Benny Brower, Mark Burley, Terry Shepherd, Josh Floyd, Greg Beydler and Darrell Eason – presiding.

Supt. Mark Koca gave an update on the upcoming construction project – new drawings.

The board opened depository bids from two banks – Community Bank – 1.474% and Mid-Missouri Bank – 1.5%. The difference on $4 million for five years would be $5,200 interest. The board voted to accept the bid from Mid-Missouri even though it will be a complicated procedure to change banks.

The board approved the payment of bills totalling $375,259.83.

The board approved the $2,500 contract for design work for repurposing a metal building.

The board appointed Tania Molz as secretary and Karen Beason as treasurer for 2017-18.

The board declared a forklift as surplus property.

The board approved the lease for a temporary 24 x 60 classroom doublewide for use during construction – $13,000 for the first year plus cost to wire and $7,000 for the second year. It will not have a bathroom.

The board approved the purchase of a mouse-proof shipping container for temporary storage during construction for $2,500 and use to store athletic equipment east of track after that.

In executive session, the board accepted the resignations of David Rogers and David Crowell. The board transferred Julie Shelby from MS PE to MS FACS. The board hired Alyssa Sargent for MS PE and Amanda Obert for MS History. The board approved the coaching and extra duty list. (See Page 8).
