The El Dorado Springs Cross Country team traveled to Nevada on Friday and ran at the Frank E. Peters golf course. We have had success this year, but this was overall, one of our most successful meets this season. We came home with three team first place titles and a second place finish.

The boys Middle School team was the only team not to bring home a team title, placing 2nd just behind a really good Neosho squad. We pushed them pretty good and just missed out. Daelen Ackley led the way with a 2nd place finish. James King, Garrett Klaiber and Austin Wiegle also medaled, placing 6th, 7th and 10th respectively. Dillon Hargrove was in the top 15 at 14th, with teammate Connor Goatley just missing top 15 in 16th. They all ran well.

The girls Middle School team got the teams started with a 1st place plaque in the team division. Hannah Klaiber led the way, winning the race, followed closely by teammates Kenli Rader in 4th, Colbie Wood in 5th and Lexis Reasoner in 6th. Morgan Mitchell finished 15th. They medaled top 10. These girls have run tough all year. They love to compete.

The varsity girls team got things started for the High School, just edging out a good Nevada team by just 2 points. Nevada had beat us earlier in the week at Lamar by just 5 points, so it was nice to come out and compete with them again and come out ahead. Senior Ashley Knoll, led the way for ElDo placing 2nd behind a very talented runner named Calli Beshore from Nevada. Sarah King placed 4th followed closely by teammate Emily Ring in 5th. Other medalists include Abby Klaiber in 9th, Lydia Eason in 14th and Abby Cartwright in 15th. Megan Griffin just missed the medals in 17th, with a personal record time of 28:34. Overall, the girls were ready to run and they really went out and competed.

The varsity boys team finished the day, finding a first place team finish as well, also just edging out the Nevada team by two points as well. This was probably the best race that we have seen the boys run this season. To start it off, they had their top runner, Matthew Reddick, back for the first time since the first meet of the season. Matthew finished 3rd overall. Teammates, Caleb Mooney in 6th, Garin McCullick in 10th, Trevyn Garringer in 13th and Brice Knoll in 14th joined him with a medal. Gavin Mooney placed 23rd with teammate Nick Raddatz placing 26th. The top five runners all ran under 20 minutes for the first time this year. They did what they had to do and this was a nice surprise to finish off the day with.

We are now off until Tuesday, Oct. 17, which will find us running at the golf course here in town.
