WINTER KICK OUT KARATE TOURNAMENT – On Saturday, Dec. 1, members from El Dorado Springs Karate Club representing Team VDK Elite traveled to Grain Valley to compete in the annual Winter Kick Out Karate Tournament.  The Martial Arts competition community was well represented at this year’s tournament. Tournament promoter, Mark Long, and his staff hosted a good and smoothly run tournament. Jacey Swopes competed in the Youth 8-9 Intermediate Division. She placed 1st in Traditional Weapons Forms, 1st in Traditional Open Hand Forms. Jacey also won the Youth 8-9 Triple Crown Award and the Youth 8-9 Forms Grand Championship adding to her total for this year. Addison Taylor competed in the Youth 10-11 Intermediate Division. She placed 1st in Traditional Weapons Forms, 1st in Traditional Open Hand Forms. Addi also won the Youth 10-11 Triple Crown Award and the Youth 10-11 Forms Grand Championship. This was her first Triple Crown and Grand Championship wins. Hunter Malensek competed in the Youth 15-17 Advanced Division. He placed 1st in Traditional Weapons Forms, 1st in Traditional Open Hand Forms. Hunter also won the Youth 15-17 Triple Crown Award and the 30 & Under Advanced Forms Grand Championship Division. These competitors are looking to build on the success they had this year and are already working very hard as they prepare for the 2019 season.
