Citizens Memorial to observe National Hospital Week, May 7-13 and National Long-Term Care Week, May 14-20

“From providing medical care in the hospital, clinics and long-term care facilities to running vital programs in our communities, our CMH employees are committed to supporting the health and well-being of our residents,” says Donald J. Babb, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of CMH. “These special weeks are about celebrating our employees who care for our patients and residents every day.”

The nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week, dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community-wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.

CMH operates 32 family medicine and specialty care clinics in eight counties in addition to an array of hospital-based services. CMH also operates six long-term care facilities in Ash Grove, Bolivar (2), Buffalo, El Dorado Springs and Stockton, and one residential care facility in Bolivar.

Locally, CMH is celebrating with lunch for staff on Friday, May 12 for hospital, clinics, home care services, and volunteers and Friday, May 19 for long-term care. For more information about National Hospital and Long-Term Care Week, contact the CMH Marketing Department at 417–328–7245.
