And a good time was had by…almost everyone
Sixteen veteran players met at the Community Center this past Saturday, Feb. 26, to battle for the title of EDSPC (El Dorado Springs Pickleball Champion). The action was fast and furious. Several players started out strong only to fade in their final games. Others started a bit slowly but came on at the end. Only a few of these chiseled athletes were able to withstand their opponents’ surges and rallies and the deafening roar of the crowd of thousands. These special gladiators maintained their composure for eight grueling games in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds.
In a private interview one unnamed combatant lamented, “Me and my partner was definitely robbed. Everybody done seen it.” When asked if she planned on playing again, the small white-haired senior player added with a not so subtle threat, “Oh yeah, I’ll be back and them people better watch out. I’m fixing to settle a score.” She will get her chance when the next pickleball tournament takes place at the ElDo Community Center in May.
Pickleball is played on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and Tuesday evenings at the El Dorado Springs Community Center. All adults are welcome. Pickleball is great exercise and you will never meet a nicer (and more fun) bunch of folks in your life. Come join us.

PICKLEBALL WINNERS – Pictured from left: Jeff Hubbard and Kristi Sterling tied for third place. Dark Horse Don Dean finished in second place. And Mitch Bush captured the coveted super-sized jar of golden kosher dill pickles. Don Dean was awarded a pint jar of sweet pickles. For their effort Jeff Hubbard and Kristi Sterling had to share a small jar of baby gerkins.
