Cedar County Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Marie Mitchell, RN, MSN as our new Chief Nursing Officer. Marie has joined us after 25 years in nursing where she most recently worked at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. She grew up in Benton

Harbor, Michigan but has lived the last 15 years in the Berrien Springs area of Michigan, a town with a population of just over 5,700 – so she is very familiar with a smaller community atmosphere. She is engaged to John Hughes, a retired U.S. Army veteran who is now an independent contractor.

In getting acquainted with Marie, she commented that she loves to shop and decorate, enjoys steak and eggs, and makes a “mean peach cobbler.”

She graduated from high school in Benton Harbor, MI, received her RN at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, MI and her BSN from Goshen College in Goshen, IN.  She recently received her MSN-FNP degree from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN, and is currently slated her to take her Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certification examination in the next few weeks.

She is now residing in El Dorado Springs and is looking forward to becoming acquainted and involved in the community.
