Linda H., co- leader, was our leader today in Robbie’s absence. Kay led us in singing, “TOPS Club Is The Place For Me.”

We said our TOPS and KOPS pledges.

Linda shared her humorous fortune from the fortune cookie she received at her recent trip to the Chinese Restaurant.  It said, “Your goal will be met in two months.”  Hopefully this fortune comes true.

Linda led us in Roll Call and asked us  to tell what “GO TO” snack we choose to keep us on track.  Twenty-two members weighed in today.  The chapter had a net loss of 3.6 pounds.  Juda was our Best Loser with a loss of 2.6 pounds.

We had no minutes for the month of April reported as Jean was absent. Sharon was also absent but Susan gave the treasurer’s report. It was approved as read.

Marilyn presented the awards.  Jan won Free Dues for May having had Perfect Attendance in April. Steve was the Best Loser for the month of April with a loss of 4.2 pounds.

  Awards presented:

Carolyn J. received a Back in Black with Perfect Attendance

Certificate for March.

Sue C. received a Back in Black with Perfect Attendance Certificate for April.

Warren H. received a Back in Black with Perfect Attendance Certificate for April.

Steve S. received a Certificate for a 25 pound loss and Certificate and Clothespin for achieving his 20 pounds to goal.

There were several other awards for members who were not present today and will be given at a later day.

Juda shared an article taken from AARP magazine about making changes in our eating habits.  We metabolize food differently at different times of the day.  We are at a lower risk of heart problems and other issues if we eat during the first two hours of the day and schedule our snacks so that we aren’t tempted to eat junk food.

Carol presented the Million Pounds Mission Chart.  For the first four months of 2017 we have 15 TOPS who have lost at least one pound.  The losses ranged from one pound to 19 pounds (Steve). Carol discussed the rules from TOPS International and then opened a discussion of having a separate contest for our Chapter. Jan T. made a motion and amended it to have a contest within our own chapter that would include a drawing for  $50 for all TOPS members who have lost and kept off 10 pounds by the end of the year.  In addition there would be a second drawing for $50 for KOPS who remained KOPS all year and any TOPS who achieved their KOPS status anytime during the year and were KOPS on the last weigh-in of the year.  Susan Sandel seconded the motion.  It passed unanimously.  Carol will update the chart weekly and display it at the weigh in area.

Margie won the chance to draw a marble for winnings of $70.  She drew a non- white, non- red marble.

Prayer requests:

Angie’s grandpa is in Hospice care at home.  Nikki has serious back issues.  Judy K’s husband Les came through the surgery yesterday with positive results and may go home on Friday or Saturday. Carolyn’s husband will have kidney surgery next Wednesday. The doctors suspect it is malignant and will determine how much of his kidney has to be removed during the surgery. Also remember her daughter who is in the hospital. Jan asked for prayers for a 15 year old boy who lost his hand. Becky and Tom need our encouragement as well. Chris W needs to have encouragement to get back on track with losing.

Next week we will be having a baby shower for Susan’s daughter, Melissa, and grandson, Wyatt right after the meeting in the church meeting room. Details will be coming when Jean returns from her camping trip.  Melissa and Wyatt will be present for the shower.

Linda ended the meeting with the 3 C’s of Life:  Choices, Chances and Changes.  We have to make good choices to take chances to have positive changes then really enjoy those positive changes.

With no other business we closed with our motto, “If IT IS To Be IT IS Up To Me.”
