What’s going on in Washington

What’s Going on in Washington–This National Police Week, we paused to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who were called to protect us each and every day.

As the Representative for Missouri’s Fourth District and a proud member of the House Republican Conference, I want every officer and every family member who stands behind them to know: we Back the Blue.

This week is not only a time for gratitude, but also a time for remembrance. We pay tribute to the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their legacies live on in the communities they gave everything to protect.

Our law enforcement officers face increasing daily challenges, yet they continue to get up and carry the weight of the badge. House Republicans are committed to standing with them, not just in words, but through action. We’re working to fund police departments, support officer recruitment and training, and ensure every officer, whether in a rural town or a major city, has the resources needed to protect and serve.

We strongly reject the dangerous rhetoric that seeks to vilify law enforcement. Safe communities depend on strong policing, and strong policing depends on leaders willing to stand behind those who uphold the law.

This week, House Republicans passed the following bills to Back the Blue:

H.R. 2240 – Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act

H.R. 2243 – LEOSA Reform Act

H.R. 2255 – Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act of 2025

To every officer in Missouri’s Fourth, the Capitol Police team, and law enforcement across our great nation: thank you.

We see you. We support you. And we will never forget those who laid down their lives to protect our communities.
